Hi, we’re Eric and Chelsea — husband and wife, parents to five  wonderful kids, and a family who enjoys the ocean.

Whether we’re surfing, swimming, diving or just soaking it up, the water and sun is where we live. But after years of long days in the sun and salt, two things always followed us home

— sunburn and board rash.

Growing up, the answer was simple: slather on some Vaseline and call it a day. It’s what we were taught, what everyone did, and we never thought twice about it. That is, until we moved to Hawaii.

Here, we discovered something that changed everything. Not only is petroleum jelly far from ideal for your skin — it’s also harmful to the delicate ocean reefs we love so much. The ocean gives us so much joy, and the last thing we wanted was to give it something harmful in return.

So we made a change.

Chelsea got to work, diving deep into natural ingredients and remedies to create a salve that would actually heal sun-kissed, ocean-worn skin — not just mask it. What started as a simple rash and sunburn relief salve quickly grew into something bigger, as friends, family and fellow ocean lovers started asking “what is that, and can I have some?”

Today, Earthy Smiles is a small family-made collection of four products we use every single day:
